The Ultra Natives

play extremely catchy tunes
that tell entertaining stories
with total disregard for genre

Their new album 'Ultra Natives' is a collection of strong vocal tunes blended with hot acoustic instrument work on steel string and nylon string guitars, ukelele, oud, bass, trombone and drums. Their sound is unique with a variation of distinct African flavours that seem to transcend the borders of the continent thus creating the concept of 'Ultra Natives'…..natives from everywhere! What other Ultra Natives are there?

Their special formula is ….there is NO FORMULA….leading to the freedom of fun and movement that one gets when one shakes the shackles of genre restriction.

Be warned that the instrumentation such as, acoustic guitars, ukelele, North African fretless lute, trombone, bass, drums and vocals, may seem tame …BUT WILL ambush your ears and hijack your bodies!

Greg Georgiades

I'm Greg Georgiades. My dream has always been to make music that is not bound by the prescriptions and restrictions of the 'music industry' and have done just that for as long as I can remember. I suppose the genre has always been 'world music' for me. I felt that, perhaps, if I could shake the genre thing, I may find an even greater freedom of expression, fun and diverse audiences of all age groups anywhere.. Most musicians are happy and comfortable in their genre with the accompanying audiences. Fortunately I have found a great group of musicians that feel the same way about transcending genre to recreate the freedom that used to be the cutting edge of music before the 'industry' began dictating and prescribing. Think of The Beatles who were able to create freely across genres. Those days were typified by music that was generally more varied, catchy and entertaining than one finds these days.
